Igor Rustamov appointed as CEO of Gazprom Neft Shelf

Igor Rustamov was appointed as CEO of Gazprom Neft Shelf. Previously, he held a position as Executive Director for Project and Functional Support of Assets of Gazprom Neft Science and Technology Center.

Igor Rustamov has been working in the oil and gas industry for more than 30 years. He started his career as an oil and gas production operator in the Oil and Gas Production Division of Krasnoleninskneft, then he worked as the Chief Technologist, Chief Engineer, Head of Oil and Gas Production Divisions for TNK-Nyagan, Yugraneft and Orenburgneft. In 2006 he took a role of Executive Director of Orenburgneft and General Director of Orenburggeologia and later he was a chairman of Verkhnechonskneftegaz company. In 2012 he was appointed as CEO of Orenburgneft.

Since 2013 he has been working for Gazprom Neft where he was the Head of the Prospective Development and Project Activities Department and in 2015 he became the Head of the Drilling and Downhole Services Department. In 2018 he was appointed as Executive Director of Gazprom Neft Science and Technology Center where he was responsible for supervision of drilling, production, infrastructure and operational activities. His professional merits were rewarded with a title “Honorary Oil Industry Worker”, an award of the Government of Russia and the highest title of the Ministry of Energy of Russia “Honorary Worker of the Fuel and Energy Complex”.

He graduated from Azerbaijan Oil and Chemistry Institute in 1985 with a degree in Technology and Complex Mechanization of Oil and Gas Field Development. He took various enhanced training courses at Moscow School of Management Skolkovo and European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD). He has a Ph.D. degree and his thesis was devoted to the gas lift method of field development.
